The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) program is one of the largest and most far-reaching international scientific research cooperation projects in the world at present. Nuclear fusion research is a major international cooperation program carried out by the world's scientific and technological circles to solve the future energy problems of mankind.
Different from Non-renewable resource and conventional clean energy, fusion energy has the advantages of unlimited resources, no pollution of the environment, no production of high radioactive nuclear waste, etc. It is one of the dominant forms of human energy in the future, and it is also one of the important ways recognized at present that can ultimately solve the energy and environmental problems of human society and promote the sustainable development of human society.

ITER device is a superconducting Tokamak that can produce large-scale Nuclear fusion reaction, commonly known as "artificial sun".
In January 2003, China participated in the ITER program negotiations. In May 2006, the China ITER negotiation joint group represented the Chinese government and jointly signed the ITER program agreement with the European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia, and the United States. China's participation in the ITER program is based on the long-term basic demand for energy.

he world's first fully superconducting Tokamak EAST Nuclear fusion experimental device (also known as artificial sun), designed and developed by China itself, successfully completed its first engineering commissioning in 2006 and passed the national acceptance in March 2007.
In April 2012, the neutral beam injection system of the new generation "Artificial Sun" experimental device (EAST) in China completed the experiment, achieving a domestic record for beam energy and power, and basically meeting the design goals of the EAST project.
The EAST neutral beam injection system of the Hefei Institute of Materials Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences is completely developed by China, covering multiple scientific and technological fields such as precision high current ion sources.
EAST is the only fully superconducting Tokamak with two characteristics and long pulse operation capability in the world at present. Its steady-state operation mode will provide important reference for ITER and future reactors.
In December 2021, the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), known as the artificial sun by the Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was put into operation again. On the evening of December 30, 2021, the operation time of China's "artificial sun" exceeded 1000 seconds, reaching 1056 seconds, which is the longest time that the high-temperature plasma of the Tokamak device operates in the world at present.
This experiment is based on a summary of the results of the previous round of experiments and the upgrading and renovation of EAST auxiliary heating systems. The goal is to make the "artificial sun" more "hot" and "long-lasting". At this point, Hefei Institute of Materials Science has independently achieved technical indicators of 1MA, 100 million degrees Celsius, and 1000 seconds.

The core ion cyclotron system of the thermonuclear fusion experimental reactor uses a Tetrode to generate radio frequency wave power. At present, the DB967 Tetrode required for the magnetic confinement fusion device in China is provided by foreign companies, which is blank in China.
China started late in the research of long pulse high power RF Tetrode, and its technology is weak. The technical parameters that the actual products can reach are far behind those of foreign countries. According to the task requirements of the "2019 Key Research and Development Plan of the National Magnetic Confinement Nuclear fusion Energy Development Research Project", Xuguang Electronics undertook the "Long Pulse High Power RF Tetrode Key Technology Research" project, "Long Pulse High Power DB967 Tetrode Scheme Design and Key Process Research and Regulation Preparation". The project was officially approved by the national level and related funds at the beginning of 2021.
